Private flights returning from the Bahamas and other Caribbean islands, as well as from Central and South America can now clear customs at KBCT, saving time by flying direct, and reducing charter costs by requiring less overall flight time.

Hours of Operation

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
10:30 AM — 6:30 PM (EST)*

*After hours clearance available between 6:30 PM and 10:30 AM and on Tuesdays & Wednesdays for an additional fee.

In previous years, international flights were required to stop at nearby South Florida airports such as Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE), while larger aircraft needed to stop at Palm Beach International (PBI) or Fort Lauderdale International (FLL).

The new facility allows residents of Boca Raton, Boyton Beach, Delray Beach and neighboring areas of Palm Beach County and Broward County to arrange international flights to/from their home airport without increasing their charter costs with additional stops at customs airports.

Impact on Private Aviation

Private planes make up the majority of the airport’s traffic, whether its private, charter or corporate aircraft. It offers a convenient location near I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, and is located just south of West Palm Beach adjacent to the Florida Atlantic University campus.

Preliminary forecasts expect 700 flights to clear Customs at BCT annually, an average of two flights per day. The new facility is also expected to increase safety by preventing low altitude return flights from additional customs stops at FXE, FLL, and PBI.

Charter flights can now arrive in Boca from the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Turks Caicos, St. Martin, Aruba, Jamaica, and the Lesser Antilles. There are many businesses located in Boca Raton heading north towards Palm Beach, opening a more convenient way for groups to take their business global.

Part-time residents of South Florida flying from Canada can book a one-way charter flight to arrive closer to their winter homes in Delray Beach, Boyton Beach and surrounding areas.

Customs services at BCT may also help to mitigate potential disruptions caused by a Presidential TFR if Trump decides to visit his property in Mar-a-Lago, creating a no-fly zone around Palm Beach International, making BCT a viable alternative.
